Before Cosher Studios became a leading music production, voice-over, and DJ service company in Cape Town, it was just one DJ with a vision. That vision grew and evolved, eventually becoming the studio it is today.
Colin Sher, better known as DJ Cosher, wanted to be a DJ. So he did. He took gigs. Built a reputation. Got referrals. Eventually, the work got bigger. Weddings turned into corporate events. Local parties turned into international stages: the Rugby World Cup 7s and HSBC 7s at Cape Town Stadium, international volleyball tournaments, and high-profile events across South Africa.
The DJ thing worked out. But along the way, something else happened.
When you’re DJing professionally, you start thinking about music differently. You want to produce your own tracks. Create your own sound with the right beats and melodies. But to do that, you need a proper recording space.
So Colin opened a studio. Not for clients, for himself. A place to work on music production, experiment with sounds, and create the tracks he wanted to play at events.
But then other artists found out. And they asked if they could book time. Record their own stuff. Get help with mixing.
It made sense to say yes. The equipment was already there. The space was being used anyway. So Cosher Recording Studios became a thing.
Turns out, there’s real demand for quality recording space. Artists need a professional recording studio. Musicians need mixing and mastering. Producers need access to the right gear.
Word spread. Sessions filled up. The business grew. Cosher Studios brought in more producers, invested in better equipment, and eventually expanded to four recording studios.
Today, we handle everything from single-track recordings to full album production. Electronic music, pop, rock, hip-hop, jazz, basically any genre.

Here’s where things took another turn. Corporate clients started coming in for music projects, background tracks for videos, custom compositions for campaigns, that kind of thing. But they’d also ask: “Do you do voice-overs?”
At first, the answer was no. But the question kept coming up. Companies needed professional narration for training videos. Brands needed voice actors for ads. International campaigns needed dubbing.
The demand was there, and honestly, the infrastructure was already in place. Recording studios? Check. Sound engineers who know how to capture clean audio? Check. All we needed was access to professional voice talent.
So we expanded into voice-over services.

So we built a team of professional DJs. People who understand music know how to read a crowd and show up ready to work. Today, that team handles over 200 hours of events monthly across Cape Town.

Our DJs have performed and headlined at multiple festivals, including Kday and Bree Street Summer Fest. We’ve also done international tournaments and high-profile corporate functions. But we also do intimate 50-person weddings. The approach is the same: professional equipment, solid music selection, reliable service.

A corporate client books us for a product launch. We produce the promotional music track in-house. We record the voice-overs for their video campaign. Then we provide the DJ for the actual launch event. One team handles everything.
